1997 / Case №1: “The Bathing Day” for the Russian Pseudo-Democracy. The Kovalev Case.

Published on: 28 September 2016

On 19 July 1997, Sovershenno Sekretno (Top Secret) newspaper published a hard-hitting article about the then acting Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation, Valentin Kovalev. The article contained more than grave accusation. The author alleged that there was a hidden camera video record showing how the Minister of Justice spent his free time with party girls in the sauna of one of Moscow night clubs. Valentin Kovalev asked Anatoly Kucherena to protect his interests. Later, in the course of a court session, the lawyer adduced unquestionable evidence that casted strong doubt upon the genuineness of the video record. Unfortunately, the arguments of the defense were ignored by the court.
